Review: Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Peel Off Face Mask

This mask costs 99p at Boots and is designed to deep clean and tighten pores and help remove blackheads.
The product has a gel-like consistency which is easy to apply to the face. There is plenty of product in the sachet for at least one generous application.
The tea tree and witch hazel scent is very refreshing and slightly medicinal.
I followed the instructions on the packaging and applied a thin, even layer to my face. It did not tingle or tighten on the skin. I found the mask took longer than the suggested 10-15 minutes to dry and become peelable. This product will not dry if you use it in the bath.
After 20 minutes or so, the mask began to dry around the edges but you can see here it did not dry evenly and was still gel-like on my nose and cheeks. I was disappointed that it began to fall off my skin and did not seem to peel away any impurities with it. I expected it to perform in a similar way to Biore face strips but this mask did not remove anything from my pores.
After cleaning the whole mask from my face, my skin felt soft and refreshed but for me this did not carry out its promise of "grabbing dirt and lifting it out of pores" as stated on the back of the sachet. It did help to tighten my pores slightly, but no more so than a normal face wash. I don't feel confident that a single use of this mask would "prevent future breakouts" as it claims.
Overall, for a cheap pamper session on non-problem skin, this would serve as a refreshing way to tone your face with a pleasant scent. Apart from that, I did not feel this lived up to its  claims of doing anything more. Have you tried any drugstore peel-off masks? What was your experience?
Thank you so much for reading,

  1. Ooh, interesting. I have this in a foam facial wash and love it. Last night I tried the Beauty Formula Charcoal peel of mask and was thrilled with the results. I left it on for 20 minutes and then peeled it off. It definitely cleaned my pores and my skin felt so soft and refreshed after using it. I will sent you one in the post. I love them. Great, honest review x x x

  2. I definitely want to try the Biore face strips, they sound phenomenal. I have tried the Tea Tree Witch Hazel Overnight Treatment which I really like. This mask sounds good, just not very powerful. Great price though, thank you for sharing. Followed you on Bloglovin' xxx

  3. I tend to find that the cheaper the product the more likely the claims aren't going to work out, which is what happened here! I didn't have high expectations though haha
